He worked in the pharmaceutical industry for Bristol-Myers Squibb and Derma Farmacias Dermatológicas, as well as 2 years in the R&D area in the petrochemical industry in Mexico.

With 6 years of experience, he joined BC&B in 2011, where he has specialized in advising foreign clients for prosecuting their patent applications during the substantive examination, successfully prosecuting up to 200 patent applications per year in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas; as well as providing support in the patentability analysis for national inventions and advice/strategies for preventing possible objections during the substantive examination.

Currently he advises BC&B clients in the substantive issues of patent prosecution, including responding to technical office actions, PPH, voluntary amendments, prosecution strategies and divisional applications.

EDWING SANDOVAL BERNAL

Patent Prosecution Engineer

Administrator-Mechanical Engineer by the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He has taken workshops and courses sponsored by the Mexican AIPPI Group (AMPPI) and WIPO.

With 4 years of experience, he joined BC&B in 2014 where he has specialized in patent drafting and reporting, analyzing, and responding Office Actions related to the patent substantive examination issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (MIIP) related to the mechanical and electrical areas, as well as for Utility Models and Industrial Designs registers managing up to 250 cases per year.

Currently, he advises BC&B clients in the substantive issues of patent prosecution, including responding to technical office actions, PPH, voluntary amendments, prosecution strategies, divisional applications, and patentability analysis.

FERNANDO ANTONIO RINCÓN

Senior Patent Professional in Biotechnology

Biologist from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM) with a Master´s degree in Health Sciences, focused on Infectious Diseases, from the Mexican National Public Health Institute (INSP). 

With 12 years of experience, he joined BC&B in 2006, where he has specialized in patent application prosecution during the subsstantive examination in the Biotechnology area, managing up to 200 cases per year. He has also specialized in plant varieties.

Currently he advises BC&B clients in the substantive issues of patent prosecution, including responding to technical office actions, PPH, voluntary amendments, prosecution strategies, divisional applications and patentability analysis. He also provides advice for prosecution of Breeder’s Rights Titles for Plant Varieties before the National Service for Certification and Inspection of Seeds (SNICS).

JASMÍN MAQUEDA MENDOZA

Patent Prosecution Biotechnologist

Pharmaceutical Biological Chemist graduated from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) with a PhD in Neuroscience, she holds a Major in cellular and molecular neurobiology from the CINVESTAV, and an Academic Diploma on Industrial Property Law from the ITAM.

With 12 years of experience, she joined BC&B in 2006 where she has specialized in patent application prosecution during the substantive examination in the fields of biotechnology, pharmacy, and chemistry for both national and foreign clients, managing up to 200 cases per year.

LINO ALMAZÁN MONROY

Senior Patent Prosecution Chemical Engineer.

Lino studied a BSc. Industrial Chemical Engineering at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, and graduated in 2001. Likewise, he studied a LL.M. Master in Law in Information and Communication Technologies - Specialization in Digital Intellectual Property at INFOTEC.

Lino has 10 years of experience providing legal and technical counseling on substantive matters at the Patent department of BC&B for both local and foreign clients at the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Design fields. Currently he prosecutes patents and industrial designs at the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical fields, including PPH requests. He evaluates strategies with Examiners for granting patents. He has experience in Patents drafting and search of prior art documents.

LUIS ENRIQUE LÓPEZ ORTIZ

Mechanical Electrical Engineer from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and Certified Auditor in International Quality Standard Systems (ISO). He has 12 years of experience as Examiner in the Mechanical area of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (MIIP) and as Patent Professional in BC&B. 

He took a course on Patents at the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) in the University of Strasbourg, France. His experience include reporting and analyzing Office Actions issued by patent authorities in Patent, Utility Model, and Design matters, proposing strategies for responding to the same, as well as patent drafting.

Currently, he advises BC&B clients in the substantive issues of patent prosecution, including responding to technical office actions, PPH, voluntary amendments, prosecution strategies, divisional applications, and patentability analysis.

She joined BC&B in 2008 where she has specialized in filing and prosecution of patents, designs, and utility models before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property. She participated in the program “Leaders under Development” at ICAMI Center for the Formation and Perfecting of Directors.

Currently, she is in charge of filing patent applications before the Mexican Patent Office (IMPI) and prosecutes all the further actions necessary for complying with the corresponding formalities until the publication of patent applications.

ROCIO NALLELY CASTILLO LANDA

Attorney at law by the Universidad del Tepeyac. She has a Management Abilities Degree by the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a Technological Project Management and Industrial Property Degree by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

She has 15 years of experience in patents. She joined BC&B in the year 2000, collaborating until 2009, and later on joined again in 2012 up to date, where she had the opportunity to cooperate in structuring the area of formalities. Furthermore, she has specialized in filing and prosecution of Patents, Models, and Designs during such formalities examination, managing up to 580 cases per year.

She is currently in charge of filing patent applications before the Mexican Patent Office (IMPI) and prosecutes all the further actions necessary for complying with the corresponding formalities, including the publication of patent applications.

 She also participated in the program "Leaders under Development" at ICAMI, Center for the Formation and Perfecting of Directors.

She joined BC&B in 2008, where she is responsible in filing and complying with formalities of patent, industrial design, and utility models applications; in the traditional manner and by the e-filing system, managing up to 1800 cases per year. She is also responsible for sending estimates and responding to consults related to the mentioned applications.

She is currently in charge of filing patent applications before the Mexican Patent Office (IMPI) and prosecutes all the further actions necessary for complying with the corresponding formalities, including the publication of patent applications.

Chemical Engineer graduated from UNAM with experience in consultancies specialized in sustainability, energy saving, continuous improvement, cost reduction projects and quality improvement. She has worked in projects for companies such as Wal-Mart in Mexico and Central America, Liverpool, Rotoplas and Genomma Lab.

She joined BC&B in 2016 where she has specialized in patent analysis and drafting and its prosecution before the MIIP (Mexican Institute of Industrial Property), and other patent authorities abroad, successfully prosecuting more than 250 patent applications per year in the chemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical, and electrical areas.

Currently, she advises BC&B’s clients in the substantive issues of patent prosecution, including responding to technical office actions, PPH, voluntary amendments, prosecution strategies, divisional applications and patentability analysis.
